Forget Chevrolet, motherhood, or apple pie — the real epitome of America is the Western. From 1903’s The Great Train Robbery to Hopalong Cassidy to this year’s Desperate Riders and the continuing popularity of Yellowstone, Westerns continue to show their resiliency, adaptability, and relevance.

What Is INSP
INSP, as the name suggests, started life as an evangelical Christian cable TV channel called The PTL Network, founded by none other than Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker. Later renamed The Inspiration Network, it was acquired by Morris Cerullo World Evangelism in the 1990s. In 2010, they rebranded it into INSP, a family-friendly channel featuring classic TV and movies.
This turned out to be a great move, especially as the channel shifted to focus more on Westerns. It’s hard to overstate what a success story INSP is. Nearly every other live channel has experienced consistent decline, hemorrhaging viewers to on-demand streaming services. But not INSP. Its ratings continue to rise, up 17% in 2021 over 2020 and a whopping 1,171% since 2010.
Today the channel’s programming is almost completely Western or Western-adjacent (their word, not ours). There is a small block of religious programming in the early morning. It continues to show classic Western series such as Bonanza, Gunsmoke, and Walker, Texas Ranger as well as lots of John Wayne and Glenn Ford movies, alongside its own original films (think The Hallmark Channel goes Western) and series.

Stream INSP
INSP isn’t as ubiquitous as some other channels. Three of the biggest streaming services — DIRECTV STREAM, Hulu + Live TV, and YouTube TV — don’t offer it at all. But it’s not that hard to find. Streaming Devices to Watch INSP
If you are thinking you have to stream INSP on a computer through a browser, you are a bit out of date. (Although all services do allow you to do that!)

Moments is a collection of shorts produced by INSP, featuring uplifting stories told through documentaries, narratives, and interviews. Each one is themed: “A Moment of Hope,” “Unbroken Soldiers,” “House of the Righteous,” “A Moment of Insight,” “A Moment of Valor,” and the popular “Old Henry” series starring Ralph Waite of The Waltons as a man struggling with the challenges of aging.
Moments‘ flagship series, “A Moment of Truth,” includes the award-winning and much-lauded tribute to Vietnam War veterans, “Thank You For Your Service.”
Where can I find INSP originals that are no longer airing on INSP?
All of INSP’s original series and most of its movies can be found on Peacock and Tubi. Most can also be found on IMDb TV, and some are also on Amazon Prime Video and/or Roku. You can visit insp.com to see which service carries the show or movie you’re looking for.
Does INSP have an app?
Most TV channels offer apps that allow you to watch live and on-demand content either with a service provider log-in via TV Everywhere or direct subscription. INSP does not currently have an app. It does have a website with an up-to-date schedule and an interesting blog. But no streaming.
